Sovereignly and Providentially, God would make the cross of Jesus Christ a memorial for the death and destruction of sin and a warning to all those who perpetuate it. It was brutal and humiliating for a reason. God makes a statement about how He feels about sin, even the sin that occurred in the garden of Eden and your sin and mine. What to us may seem a casual mistake, a misstep or error…to God is as ugly and revolting as the cross itself. Can you imagine facing God yet in the guilt of your sin? What a hopeless and devastating position to be in!

In the Garden of Eden, the serpent straight forwardly and maliciously attacked Eve’s established view and understanding of God’s goodness and nature. Satan still today uses the gap between our understanding of God and who He actually is to manipulate us into fear and doubt.
